A REAL ID compliant driver license or state ID will display a gold circle with a star cutout in the top right corner. First time issuance of a REAL ID compliant license/D will require you to visit an OMV office for purchase. Otherwise, you can order a duplicate or renew your already compliant license/ID through LA Wallet (if eligible) and your new credential will continue to be REAL ID compliant.

• You can visit https://la.accessgov.com/real-id/Forms/Page/real-id/louie/ to use the Louisiana's ID Expert (LOUIE) which will help you identify the documents needed to get a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or identification card.
• Effective May 7, 2025, all air travelers will be required to present a REAL ID-compliant license or identification, or another acceptable form of identification, for domestic air travel, as well as for access to federal facilities and entry to nuclear power plants. 

To add your license/ID, complete the following:

1. Go to the Home tab and tap the Add License button. 
2. Tap the "Scan License Barcode" button at the top to scan the barcode on the back of your license/ID for best verification.

• (Note: Do not use the Scan button on the bottom menu when trying to add your license/ID. This will only scan the ID for verification and not actually add the license/ID to your account).

Please note: LA Wallet will only work with the most current and up-to-date & valid issuance of your driver's license or state id. If you do not have your latest issued license/ID, you will be unable to connect it to your account.
