Key Information
- The Louisiana driver's license or state ID linked to the LA Wallet account at purchase will be the duplicate.
- This option will only be available if your linked credential is eligible for online ordering.
- Eligibility cannot be changed.
- Credential changes must be made in person at an OMV office or Public Tag Agent.
- Do not use the LA Wallet app to submit changes.
- Orders arrive within 30 days to the mailing address shown to you during the ordering process.
- If you paid for a new license/ID in the LA Wallet app and you do not received within 30 days, you have within 60 days of purchasing to get a free duplicate at an official OMV office.
- If you update or buy a new license outside the LA Wallet app, your digital credential won't update automatically. You'll need to update it yourself.
Instructions
1. To order a duplicate license or ID with LA Wallet, hit Tap to view on the Home tab. The Purchase Duplicate button appears below your license/ID barcode.
- If the option is not there, tap the Menu tab to the bottom right and select Order Duplicate License/ID.
- If you do not see the order duplicate option in any of the places, your linked credential is ineligible for a duplicate vis the LA Wallet app.
2. Next, read all the information on the Order Duplicate License/ID prompt then tap the Check Eligibility button at the bottom of the page to go to the next ordering prompt.
3. You will be shown a Price Breakdown page which will include the License Fee, Convenience Fee, free LA Wallet Digital License Fee, and any other fees associated with ordering a duplicate credential.
- After reading and reviewing, tap the Continue button at the bottom of the page to go to the next ordering prompt.
4. The Confirm Address page shows the mailing address on file with the OMV for sending your new credential. Review it, then tap the Confirm Address button to continue.
5. The next page will show an advisement that your new digital credential will take a few days for your new issuance to appear in LA Wallet.
6. The next page is the Order Section, showing your total amount and options to Checkout.
7. Tapping the Checkout button opens the Payment page. You must enter your Card Number, Expiration Date (MMYY), CVV2 (3-4 digit code), and Billing Address. Then, click Submit Payment to complete the purchase.
8. Once the payment has been approved you will receive an email confirmation, as well as a Payment Approved prompt with next steps.
9. Your new digital credential will automatically update in your LA Wallet within 24-48 hours of completing your in-app purchase. You'll get an email once it's linked.
- If your new digital credential has not been automatically updated after 48 hours, please ask to speak to an agent via chat or email help@lawallet.com.
- For LA Wallet orders, there will be a delay between the time the new credential is created in the OMV's system and when the new digital credential is automatically linked in a LA Wallet account. During this time, if prompted to update, you should tap Dismiss to keep your current linked credential.
- Tapping Update removes the old credential. Without the new audit number, you can’t link a new one and must wait for the system to link it automatically.
